Week 2: 13/6/22

Good morning F2,

I hope you've all had a lovely weekend and that you're all ready to search faithfully for excellence!

I will be providing the RWInc speed sound links on a Friday now as the RWInc teachers are choosing sounds each day as we start to fill gaps in the sounds that children are a little unsure of. If there are any sounds that you know your child may need practice with, please let me know and I will the send the links via email.

In Literacy, we are still reading the story Handa's Surprise. This week we move on to looking at plot point 2 and 3. We will be writing the beginning of Handa's Surprise for our Independent Write on Friday

In Maths, we are consolidating the skills that we have learnt over this past year. This week we are looking at counting out quantities from a larger group, recognise numbers 5-10 by showing the '5 and a bit' structure, count 20 objects, practice saying the teen numbers and practicing counting to 100! There are a few resources that you might like to use at home. The first being The Big Numbers Song, where the song counts to 100 and beyond. The second is a useful website called Topmarks, where you can practice some of the skills we're covering this week by playing games on your tablet/computer

In our Topic learning, this week's artist is VAN GOGH and our star words are: lines, curved and swirly. We will be using the paintings 'Starry Night' and 'Sunflowers' as our art inspiration this week. There is a lovely video you can watch at home if you'd like to know more about Van Gogh: Art with Mati and Dada- Van Gogh

All the resources that we are using this week are in the parent folders in the folder marked: Week 2: 13/6/22. Please send me any work that you complete. If you need any further resources, please just drop me an email and I will send you what you need.

REMINDER: Please can all book bags be returned by THURSDAY at the latest as this allows us to change books on Friday morning

PE DAYS: Please note that children must wear a white polo top with their school jumper/cardigan. Black/navy bottoms and trainers can also be worn. Earrings MUST be removed before coming to school.
