Week 4 23.01.23

Posted: Jan 23, 2023 by: FS 2 (Foundation 2) on: F2 Class Blog

Good morning children and grown ups of F2. I hope you have had a lovely weekend.

Here is our timetable for this week: F2 Timetable - week 4 Blog 23-01-23.docx

In Literacy, this week we are reading one of my favourite stories; Handa's Surprise. This text fits in beautifully with our 'Keeping Healthy' topic and it will give us even more opportunities to taste some juicy, healthy fruit. We will break the story down into plot points throughout the week, learning lots of new vocabulary and having a go at some supported writing.

In Maths, we are learning about what makes up the numbers 6,7,and 8, matching pictures that represent the same number, 1 more and 1 less and we will continue to work on subitizing (recognising a quantity of items without counting them).

Our Keeping Healthy topic continues this week and we have two new star words to learn: exercise and beat. The children will take part in a mini exercise class and a yoga class with me in the hall, talking about why it is important to exercise and what happens to our heart when we do. Remember grown - ups, on Wednesday 3.15-4pm we are running a 'parent and child' exercise class in the hall. It would be amazing if you could attend to support your child's learning. It will be a bit of fun for everyone so make sure you let the office know if you want to attend so we have an idea of numbers.

Book bags: please could you ensure your child has a book bag in school every Thursday (Friday morning the latest) so Mrs Clark can replace reading books/ditty sheets for home learning. Unfortunately, we are unable to send a reading book home without a book bag as they are more likely to go missing, therefore leaving school in a position where we do not have enough books for everyone. Thank you.

If you have any questions, comments or concerns, you can contact me on f2@olsj.org.uk and I will reply as soon as I can. For anything urgent, please email school@olsj.org.uk

Love Mrs Coward, Mrs Evans and Mrs Clark xx
