Our trip to Sheffield

In our Topic lessons this term, Year 6 have been investigating what makes a city a city. In order to help us answer our question 'What makes Sheffield a City?', we decided to visit Sheffield. Whilst we were there, we identified lots of features of a city that Sheffield had: commercial areas, such as shops and restaurants, industrial areas, residential areas and lots of different types of transport.

The children then carried out numerous pedestrian counts in different areas of Sheffield to see how the pedestrian count  in Sheffield compared to a pedestrian count carried out by Y3 and Y4 in Wath. 

The children represented the school brilliantly whilst out in Sheffield and we are now able to answer our question 'What makes Sheffield a city?'.
