Outdoor explorers

Posted: Nov 18, 2019 by: Year 1 (Year 1) on: Year 1's Blog

Year 1 had a great outdoor afternoon on Thursday. Albeit a little wet and muddy, Year 1 did not let this dampen their spirits and had a great afternoon building dens and building a Bivouac shelter.

Continuing our topic theme on explorers into our outdoor learning, children built dens using tar-poling, bungee string, tent pegs and hammers to shelter themselves from the rain.  Children then rewarded themselves by enjoying their hot chocolate in their dry den.

Children also go to have a go at working as a team to quickly assemble a Bivouac shelter role playing being Scott of the Antarctica and his team in a snow storm.  Children were tasked in getting inside the Bivouac shelter as quick as possible.  Children really enjoyed this task and got into action at an impressive speed.
