Good morning Friday!

Year 2 (Year 2) on: Year 2 Home Learning Blog

Good morning Y2 and grown-ups of Y2!

I'm looking forward to my next instalment of PE with Joe Wick, this morning at 9a.m. on YouTube (admittedly, I'm aching from previous days but that's not going to stop me!)  I hope you will join in and maybe even send me a photo of you doing your favourite move...

Remember:  Our class email is Y2@olsj.org.uk

There are some of you I haven't heard from yet, so please do drop me an email to say ''hello" :)

There's a website that I remembered about yesterday for an online game called INTERLAND - it's great for teaching you about online safety (and such a lot of fun too - you even get certificates when you complete each of the worlds!)  Check it out:

I hope to be adding something to the parent folder (at the bottom of this blog) later today, so please keep an eye on changes to the blog.

Don't forget to practice your maths skills on sumdog - I check the leader-boards everyday :)

Love to you all

Day 3

Year 2 (Year 2) on: Year 2 Home Learning Blog

Hello everyone!

I'm missing you all so much and thinking about you all throughout the day and I have to say that I look forward to your emails that you are sending me :)

Thank you to everyone who is sending me descriptions and images of home learning that they have completed.  I'm hearing some great things about how your bulbs and seeds are growing!

I am checking Sumdog everyday to see who has been logging on, how long you have been playing and how many questions you have been getting right - I might have some shout-outs next week to the top 5 users of Sumdog - keep up the hard work and keep having fun (I've had a few goes myself but haven't managed to get onto the leader-boards yet!)

The weather has been glorious lately, so if you've managed to get out in the garden please feel free to send a pic over to show me what fun you've been having :)

Much love

Miss Dyson x

Suggested Activities for Remainder of Spring Term

Year 2 (Year 2) on: Year 2 Home Learning Blog

Please find below suggested activities and websites that you can use to support your child’s learning at home.

We have added suggested timings.

The current topic is all about plants and how they grow so please also refer to the class knowledge organiser and perhaps it’s a great time to grow some things at home.

Reading 15 minutes per day:

Own reading books / borrowed books from school

Oxford Owl Free ebooks - https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/for-home/find-a-book/library-page/?view=image&query=&type=book&age_group=&level=&level_select=&book_type=&series=#

Literacy 45 minutes per day:

Maths 45 minutes

The following websites would help you to support your child and are specifically designed for Year 2.

Numbots – https://play.numbots.com/

Sumdogs - https://pages.sumdog.com/parent/

Numberblocks - https://www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies/shows/numberblocks

Reading stories to your child: Your child is read to at least twice over a school day. Please share books as often as you can. They are a really good way to end a learning session and a fabulous opportunity for you to introduce new words and chat to your child. The following websites are great to support you.

Topic 30 minutes per day:

BBC Bitesize - https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/levels/z3g4d2p

Scikids - https://www.youtube.com/user/scishowkids

National Geographic - https://www.natgeokids.com/uk/

You may also like to nurture your own bulb and seed which children have planted themselves.  They will be sent home with one of each and they have been very interested in watching them grow – you might even take photographs to show their development.
