Year 2 (Year 2) on: Year 2 Home Learning Blog

On this, our last day of school, I am thinking about 'Hope'.

I hope you all enjoyed your time in Year 2.

I hope you will all take your knowledge with you so that you can shine in Year 3.

I hope that you know how special you are.

I hope that you will have a happy and healthy holiday in order to relax and recharge.

I hope for a fresh start in September where our school community can learn and love together.

I hope to see you soon - bigger, braver, bolder!

Good luck, Year 2!

Have a fabulous Summer Holiday and I look forward to seeing you back at school.

Year 2 (Year 2) on: Year 2 Home Learning Blog

Good morning, Year 2!

Here are a couple of fabulous litter bugs, made to remind us of the importance of looking after our wonderful planet:

Everyone loved Vanessa's quiz so much that I have made it into a Kahoot! quiz for her.  All the children are so eager to play it in our Key Worker bubble, and I hope children at home will be too.  What do you think of it, Vanessa?  Did you score 100% on your own quiz?  I hope so!

Follow the link to have a go yourself!

Year 2 (Year 2) on: Year 2 Home Learning Blog

Good morning Year 2!

How are you all feeling this last week of school?  Did you enjoy the picnic with Mr Gouldin?  Are you excited about the Summer Holidays?

The top of the Kahoot! leaderboard has changed several times since I first posted it.  Currently, Vanessa (nickname Oli) is in joint number 1 position with Isaac (Y1).  It may not be possible to beat them, but can anyone else join them? Is 13,500 an unbeatable score?  You have two more days left to try!

Vanessa has also created her very own quiz for us all to try - I will send my answers to her tomorrow (fingers crossed that I get 10 out of 10!).  Why not have a go yourselves?  You'll find it in the "Children's work" folder.  Let me know how you get on with it.

Have a great day tomorrow.  I hope you'll try out Mr Gouldin's transition activity and send it to the Year 2 email address so that he can see your wonderful work.

Year 2 (Year 2) on: Year 2 Home Learning Blog

Good morning Year 2!

(Video version of this blog available in the parent folder)

It's our last week!  What a strange summer term it has turned out to be...

It may not have been the end to the year that we all would have wished for, but I have to say that I have thoroughly enjoyed seeing you learning at home with the people you love.  I have been blown away by the support shown by parents and by the hard work put in day after day by my lovely Year 2s.  It's actually been really lovely to see you all, children and parents, in this different light shed on us by the current situation we find ourselves in.

This week, you have been invited to a picnic with Mr Gouldin on Monday so I hope to see many of you there today.  I won't be able to join you but hopefully I can give you all a wave from afar!

Mr Gouldin has prepared some lovely transition activities for you in place of literacy all this week.  You can find all the resources you need in the parent folder.

Our afternoon activities will be a little bit more laid back, as they would have been if we had been in school together for this last week.  We do have a Come and See lesson on Wednesday, as I think that it is important to appreciate God's creation - our world!  I wonder when we will receive our green Blue Peter badges?  I hope you'll let me know when you do.  On Tuesday, I ask that you make a litter bug, to show the importance of recycling and not littering our planet up with rubbish.  On Thursday (our last day!) I suggest that you "create a memory" by decorating a stone with a message that is important to you.  If I was doing this task, I might write the word 'hope' with a drawing of a rainbow and a dove.  It would then take pride of place in a special part of my garden to remind me of all we've been through and to give me hope when I'm feeling a little down.

Monday's ICT is to revisit the Kahoot! quiz:  Useful or Beautiful?  Geography.  At the end of the quiz it was Lukasz who held the number 1 spot - can anyone beat him?  You'll need to be fast with your answers if you want to take the top position!

I hope that many of you will still find time to email me this week, as I would love to see some last happy photos of you enjoying your learning and family time.  I'm going to miss you all very much indeed, but I know you will be in safe hands with Mr Gouldin.  Remember, I'll only be next door if you need me and I'll always be happy to say hello to you, so please don't forget to!  I wish you all well in Year 3.  When all this is over, I hope that Mr Gouldin will send you back to Year 2, on occasion, to show off your amazing work to me and the new  Year 2s.  Your work will inspire them and I know you will be amazing role-models to these younger children in school.

Remember:  Be The Best You Can Be!

Love to you all

A Message for Current Y2 Parents from Mr Gouldin

Year 2 (Year 2) on: Year 2 Home Learning Blog

Good morning Year 2 and Parents of Year 2

I am really looking forward to seeing you on Monday at our picnic for those who can make it.

I've been very impressed with the work you've been sending in and can't wait until September!

In the Y2 Home learning files there is a short welcome video to tell you a few things about next year.

Or click here

Hopefully that will answer anything you want to ask but if not  you can ask me on Monday.

After our picnic, I'll also posting a few transition activities on your learning grid to do in the week and can't wait to see your responses.

I can't believe you're going to be in KS 2 in a few months- it doesn't seem long ago that I was teaching you Maths with Mrs Johnson at the start of Year 1.

Hope you enjoy the video and have a lovely weekend.
