Our Lady and St. Joseph's Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This means we have a Child Protection Policy a copy of which is available from the school office and is also available from here on this website. In addition we also have a policy for safeguarding children during the COVID-19 outbreak available here.
Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child's welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with his/her parents/carers first unless we have a reason to believe such a move would be contrary to the child's welfare.
If you have a safeguarding issue (i.e. you suspect a child is a victim of abuse or neglect by an adult and need to report it) you need to see:
Mrs McLaughlin (Executive Headteacher)
Mrs Evans (Head of School)
Mrs Janvier ( Deputy Headteacher)
Mr Janvier (Chair of Governors) via the main offices.
Operation Encompass is a police and education early information sharing partnership enabling schools to offer immediate support for children and young people experiencing domestic abuse. Information is shared by the police with a school's trained Key Adult (DSL) prior to the start of the next school day after officers have attended a domestic abuse incident thus enabling appropriate support to be given, dependent upon the needs and wishes of the child.
Operation Encompass aims to mitigate this harm by enabling immediate support, making a child's day better and giving them a better tomorrow.
Operation Encompass believes that children are victims of domestic abuse in their own right and should be acknowledged as such. School poster is here
