Prayers in school

Prayer is how we communicate with God. At Our Lady and St. Joseph's, we teach children different ways to pray and different types of prayer. We use formal prayer at different parts of the day to help with its structure, but also to help our children give thanks to God.

We start every prayer with the Sign of the Cross. In Foundation we say this in English. In other classes and when we gather for whole school assemblies and liturgies, we sometimes say the Sign of the Cross in latin. This is because Latin was the traditional language used in catholic mass.

Many of our youngest children often start reciting our formal prayers at home when they start school with us. Below are the prayers all children say during the school day, should you like to use them at home as well.
