Safeguarding

Safeguarding

We all have a statutory duty to “safeguard and promote the welfare of children”.

The Designated Safeguarding Lead is Miss Louise Illien (Headteacher)

The Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead is Mrs Gemma Pegg (SENDCo)

At OLASJ, every adult in school is committed to safeguarding and has a duty of care to ensure the safety and welfare of all of our children and their families.

We have a number of polices in place that contribute to our Safeguarding commitment, all of which can be downloaded below. Our Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy can be downloaded here

Any allegation or disclosure involving someone who works with children in a paid or voluntary capacity must be reported directly to the Headteacher, unless it involves the Headteacher and then it should be reported directly to the Chair of the Governing Body.

Our Safeguarding Governor is Theresa Nicol and can be contacted via the school office

Our Chair of Governors is Rebecca Swann and can be contacted via the school office

If you have a safeguarding concern about a child in our school, please speak to one of our Safeguarding Team. You can contact them via the school office in person, by telephone or via email

We are an Operation Encompass school which is a police-led initiative to support children who may have witnessed or been affected by domestic abuse.

Parents and Carers play a huge role in helping your children to stay safe online. You don't need to be an expert on the internet...it is really important to chat with your children on an ongoing basis about staying safe online. It is also hugely important to ensure that they are using websites and apps which are suitable for their age.

There are a number of websites that offer advice/support:
