After School Club

At Our Lady and St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, we understand how important it is for families to have a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for their children beyond the school day. Our After-School Club is designed to provide just that—a welcoming space where every child from Nursery upwards can enjoy enriching activities that reflect our school’s forest school ethos and core values of care, community, and growth.

About Our After-School Club

Our After-School Club runs daily from 3.15pm to 5.45pm, offering a structured yet flexible programme that supports children’s wellbeing and development in a relaxed setting. The club is supervised by Miss Wilkinson, with support from Mrs Harrison, both of whom know our children extremely well and are committed to fostering a warm, inclusive atmosphere that reflects our school’s vision of nurturing every child’s potential.

What to Expect

Each afternoon, children participate in a balanced and varied timetable that encourages learning, creativity, and play:

  • Register and Welcome: Children are warmly greeted and settled in.
  • Drink and Snack Time: A healthy range of snacks is provided to keep energy levels up.
  • Lesson/Activity/Craft: Engaging activities inspired by our forest school ethos and curriculum.
  • Indoor Play: Opportunities for creative and social play inside.
  • Outdoor Play: Weather permitting, children enjoy time outdoors, connecting with nature and developing physical skills.

Snack Options

We pride ourselves on offering nutritious, low-sugar snacks that support healthy habits, including:

  • Toast
  • Fresh fruit and vegetables
  • Rice cakes
  • Variety of low-sugar biscuits
  • Sugar-free jelly
  • Cheese and crackers
  • Brioche

Booking and Costs

The After-School Club fee is £8.50 per session. Sessions must be booked in advance via School Gateway. To support families, we accept Tax-Free Childcare and Universal Credits to help offset costs. Please note that bookings and payments using tax-free childcare and universal credits must be made one month in advance via the school’s email address.

Reflecting Our Vision and Values

Our After-School Club is more than just childcare—it is an extension of our school community where every child is valued and encouraged to flourish. Through a blend of creative activities and outdoor play, children develop confidence, resilience, and a love for learning in line with our Catholic ethos and forest school principles. We aim to nurture the whole child, supporting their spiritual, emotional, and physical growth in a safe and caring environment.
