Week 5: 23.5.22

FS 2 (Foundation 2) on: F2 Class Blog

Good morning F2,

I hope you've all had a lovely weekend, and are ready for our last week of learning before the holidays :)

Here is the learning timetable for this week: F2 Timetable Week 5- 23.5.22.docx

We will be recapping all of the sounds we have learnt in RWInc this week. I have added all the links to all the sounds that have been covered in the different RWInc groups. These links can also be used over the half-term if you find yourself with a spare 10 minutes! They can be found here: RWInc Speed Sound Links 23.5.22.pdf

In Literacy, we will be writing a fact book all about our squirrel learning. We will also be writing lots of independent sentences as to be the best you can be in F2, you need to be able to write a sentence that can be read by other people! Let's keep practicing :D

In Maths, we will be using 10-frames and dice-frames to help us with our representations of the numbers 9 and 10. We'll also be singing the number bond rap song lots and lots

This week our Topic learning is continuing from last week and we will be learning some more facts about squirrels. We have lots of different artwork on the go and will be finishing these off.

In Come and See, we are moving on to our new topic: Friends. We will be looking at what makes a good friend and creating a recipe for some delicious friendship soup :)

All the resources that we are using this week are in the parent folders in the folder marked: Week 5: 23/5/22

REMINDER: We are celebrating the Queen's Jubilee on Friday. It is non-uniform day, so come dressed in something red, blue and white. We will be playing lots of games in the morning before having a party lunch.

If you need to pass on a message or have any questions, please contact us on our class email f2@olsj.org.uk and I will reply as soon as I can.

Let''s go on a Bug Hunt! 20.5.22

FS 2 (Foundation 2) on: F2 Class Blog

Today's Outdoor Friday saw us going on a bug hunt around the school field! We hit the bug jackpot after lifting stones and finding ants, spiders, slugs, centipedes and woodlice :)  Some of us were even brave enough to pick them up. After that we had lots of fun playing on the field as a reward for our super independent writing!

For your weekend home-learning:

  • please read lots and lots! As well as your RWInc books (on Oxford Owl), what else do you like reading? Maybe you could help your grown-ups when shopping and read some of the labels?
  • This week we have been learning about grey squirrels. What can you remember about them? Can you write a fact?
  • What have done over the weekend? Me and Mrs Clark would love to see you write about something you have done over the weekend!

A massive thank you to al the grown-ups of F2 for coming in to school today :) We have loved having lots of people in FS again and we hope that you enjoyed looking at all of the fabulous work that your child has done since September!

Have a lovely weekend F2 :)

Week 4: 16/5/22

FS 2 (Foundation 2) on: F2 Class Blog

Good morning F2,

I hope you've all had a lovely weekend, enjoying the beautiful sunshine we've been having :)

Here is the learning timetable for this week: F2 Timetable Week 4-16.5.22.docx

The RWInc links you need for the sounds we will be learning this week are available here: RWInc Speed Sound links 16.5.22.pdf. Please remember to keep accessing the Oxford Owl website to practice reading your RWInc books. How many times can you read it? I'd love to know!

In Literacy, we are finishing the unit on Bear Hunt and ending with plot point 5. We have 2 independent writing sessions this week as we will be writing plot points 3 and 4, before finishing with plot point 5...let's show everyone how amazing we are with our writing!

In Maths, we will be using 10-frames and dice-frames to help us with our representations of the numbers 9 and 10. We'll also be singing the number bond rap song lots and lots

This week our big Topic question is: What is a grey squirrel? Our new star word is: drey. We will be spending the next two weeks learning lots about the animals that come and visit our outdoor area. We will be producing lots of stunning artwork, which we hope to share with you all!

In Come and See, we are carrying on our learning about the story of Pentecost and what the Holy Spirit is. We will be making ribbons to dance outside with...fingers crossed for sunshine with a tiny bit of wind!

All the resources that we are using this week are in the parent folders in the folder marked: Week 4: 16/5/22

REMINDER: We are having our FS open morning on Friday and we are looking forward to welcoming all of your grown-ups to see what we've been getting up to since September.

If you need to pass on a message or have any questions, please contact us on our class email f2@olsj.org.uk and I will reply as soon as I can.

A Walk to the Deep Dark Woods 13.5.22

FS 2 (Foundation 2) on: F2 Class Blog

The trip to the woods was a huge success. We loved that our Y6 buddies were able to join us :) It was amazing being able too see what a real canopy looked liked and some of us laid on our backs to see what we could see!

For your weekend home-learning:

  • read, read and read some more! Please make sure you are accessing the book you have been reading in school on the Oxford Owl website. You should already have your log-in details, but please do email me if you need them sent again.
  • what else can you read? How about signs when you're out and about? How about magazines? Opportunities to read are all around you :)
  • This week we have been learning about habitats. Think of an animal and write a sentence about their habitat! Where is it? It doesn't have to be an animal from the woods, but if it is-does it live in the canopy or floor?
  • Write a sentence about our walk to the woods? What did you see? Hear? Smell? Touch?
  • Practice the Number Bond rap! Can you say all of your number bonds to 5 by yourself?

Have a lovely weekend F2 and fingers crossed for some glorious sunshine!

Love Mrs Pegg and Mrs Clark x
