Week 3: 17/1/22

FS 2 (Foundation 2) on: F2 Class Blog

Good morning F2,

I hope you've all had a lovely weekend and are ready, to once again, search faithfully for excellence in our new learning week!

Here is the learning timetable for this week: F2 Timetable Week 3-17.1.22.docx

The RWInc links you need for the sounds we will be learning this week are available here: RWInc Speed Sound links 17.1.22.pdf

In Literacy this week, we are reading The Princess and the Pea. Over the week, we will be building our own Princess and the Pea books-ending with designing a front cover on Thursday. You are all becoming fantastic writing and I can't wait to read all of your stories!

In Maths, we're focusing our learning on the Numberblocks this week. The episode we will be focusing on is available to watch hereNumberblocks-Off We Go. We will be making staircase patterns with cubes to show that each number is one more than the previous one.

In Topic, we move our learning to finding out who lives in castles. Our new star words are: KING, QUEEN and RULE. We will be using our investigative skills to figure out a way to get the Queen across the moat and in to her castle. Perhaps you can think of a way to make a bridge at home to share with everyone in school!

All the resources that we are using this week are in the parent folders in the folder marked: Week 3: 17.1.22. These will be useful if you are self-isolating. Please send me any work that you complete. If you need any further resources, please just drop me an email and I will send you what you need.

If you need to pass on a message or have any questions, please contact us on our class email f2@olsj.org.uk and I will reply as soon as I can.

Outdoor Friday 14.1.22

FS 2 (Foundation 2) on: F2 Class Blog

We went on a winter hunt today for Outdoor Friday. We took a stroll around the school field, searching for signs of winter. We found frosty leaves, freezing sticks and solid grass. Then it was back to our fire circle for hot chocolate to keep ourselves warm.

For your weekend learning...

Please read the RWInc books you brought home from school as much as you can. We all need to work on becoming speedy readers!

Practice writing CVC words! Ask your grown-up to give you a word and see if you can use your Fred Fingers to sound it out before writing it.

If you feel like a challenge and want to be a smarty-fantastic...how about writing a sentence about something you have drawn/done/seen? You can use our sentence starter of 'it is a...' and add your own word

Our Star Words this week have been: MOAT and BATLLEMENTS. Can you remember what they are? Perhaps you could draw a castle, adding the moat and battlements where they belong!

Whatever you decide to do, have a lovely weekend and stay safe!

A Very Wet Outdoor Friday 7.1.22

FS 2 (Foundation 2) on: F2 Class Blog

We had a very wet and cold Outdoor Friday today...but that definitely didn't stop us having fun getting really muddy! See our photo below of all the washing that awaits the teachers in FS!

Our job today was to plant a bean as we are hoping to grow beanstalks! Perhaps, we'll also meet a giant if ours grows really big :) F2 are tasked with the job of looking after them as we know what 5 things a plant needs to grow...can you tell your grown-ups the 5 things?

For your home learning this week: can you draw a picture of your home? We've also learnt about what a castle is-what else do you know about castles? We will be learning more about castles next week.

Have a lovely weekend,

Love Mrs Pegg and Mrs Clark x

Welcome Back 5.1.22

FS 2 (Foundation 2) on: F2 Class Blog

A very happy new year to you all :)

I hope you've all had a fantastic Christmas and are feeling ready to go with all of our new learning!

Here is this week's timetable: F2 Timetable Week 1-5.1.22.docx

We're kicking off our learning with Jack and the Beanstalk. Can you remember what the giant lived in at the top of the beanstalk? That will give you a very big clue as to what our Topic learning is all about this term! Our Topic is called 'CASTLES'! We will be finding out what's so special about castles, who lives in them, what a king and queen are, where they sit, what they wear before becoming artists and painting a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II! If that wasn't enough, we'll also be spending a week of learning finding out why it's so important to brush our teeth :)

Our star words for this week are: HOME and CASTLE.

If you need to pass on a message or have any questions, please contact us on our class email f2@olsj.org.uk and I will reply as soon as I can.

Love Mrs Pegg and Mrs Clark x
