Our Welcome Mass (28.09.22)

FS 2 (Foundation 2) on: F2 Class Blog

What a beautiful welcome we had to school today. Fr Patrick joined us and celebrated mass with special readings and prayers for the children in F2. All the children sat superbly with their Y6 buddy throughout the mass. We were all very proud of you. Here are some photos of our special celebration.

Week 4: 26.9.22

FS 2 (Foundation 2) on: F2 Class Blog

Good morning F2,

I hope you've all had a lovely weekend and are feeling excited for the week ahead :)

Here is our timetable for the week: f2-timetable-week-4 26.9.22.docx

In Literacy we are finishing The Rainbow Fish and looking at the final plot point, before we sequence the 5 plot points to see how much we can remember about the story.

In Maths, we are getting very familiar with one, two and three. We will be finding that number of objects, representing that number in different ways and comparing those numbers. This Numberblock episode may help support your learning: One, Two, Three!

In Topic, we will be exploring a builder's tools and how a builder keeps safe. Our new Star Words this week are: tools and safety. We have an 'egg-xtra' special visitor that needs our help on Tuesday!

WEDNESDAY: This is our Welcome Mass with Y6 and parents/carers are invited to attend :) We do have to do a little singing so here are the links for you to practice at home:

He's Got the Whole World in His Hands and If I Were a Butterfly

Here are the links for the sounds we practiced last week if you would like to practice at home:

Week 3: 20/9/22

FS 2 (Foundation 2) on: F2 Class Blog

Good morning F2,

I hope you've all had a lovely weekend and are ready, once again, to 'search faithfully for excellence'

Here is this week's learning timetable: F2 Timetable week 3- 20.9.22.docx

In Literacy, we are carrying on with exploring The Rainbow Fish, moving on to plot point 4.

In Maths, we are looking at pattern. You may like to watch these songs at home to help you: Banana Banana Meatball and The Pattern Song

In Topic, we will be exploring the past by learning a little about The Great Fire of London-with this being the reason why we no longer build houses from wood. We are also exploring materials and sorting them according to hard and soft. Our Star Words for this week are: past, hard and soft

A few reminders:

This WEDNESDAY sees the start of our Family Forest School Sessions from 3pm til 4pm. Children must be accompanied by an adult as this is NOT an after-school club. We're looking forward to sharing our amazing outdoor area with you all :)

PE is on THURSDAY and our Outdoor session is on FRIDAY. Please come dressed appropriately for both days

Can all Book Bags be returned by THURSDAY at the latest as this gives the children time to swap their books with our 'book blanket' session.

If you have any questions, comments or concerns, you can contact me on f2@olsj.org.uk and I will reply as soon as I can. For anything urgent, please email school@olsj.org.uk

Weekend Home Learning 16.9.22

FS 2 (Foundation 2) on: F2 Class Blog

Another wonderful week in F2 :) Myself and Mrs Clark cannot believe how grown-up you all are!

Outdoor Friday this week saw us go on a tree hunt around school. We found big trees, little trees and everything in between. We saw roots, trunks, branches and leaves...

We finished the afternoon by painting on trees, looking at the interesting pattern the tree bark made, sweeping  our outdoor area clean and lots of leaf printing.

If you would like to practice your RWInc sounds at home, here are the links you need:

Please spend some time this weekend sharing your story book with your grown-ups. Have you got a favourite story? Perhaps you'd like to bring it in to share with the rest of F2?

Maths: can you find things that are tall and short in your house?

Topic: We have learnt the word 'sturdy' this week. Can you build a sturdy tower using things from around your house? If you'd like to share a photograph-then please do!!

Have a lovely weekend F2 and we'll see you on Tuesday.

Week 2: 12/9/22

FS 2 (Foundation 2) on: F2 Class Blog

Good morning F2,

I hope you've all had a lovely weekend and are ready to 'search faithfully for excellence' in our second week of school :)

Here is this week's timetable: F2 Timetable week 2- 12.9.22.docx

In Literacy, we are still reading The Rainbow Fish and are moving onto plot point 3. Your vocabulary was impressive last week- let's see if we can keep it up this week!

In Maths, we move on to comparing groups of items-whether that be by how many there are or by height.

In Topic, we find out what a builder is and what they do before building a sturdy tower later on in the week. Our Topic story is The Three Little Pigs. Perhaps you have this story at home!

Reminders:

Our PE day is THURSDAY. Please come to school dressed in your PE kit.

We have Outdoor Friday every FRIDAY. Please come to school dressed in your forest school uniform.

Story  books will be sent home every Friday, starting this FRIDAY. Please can these be returned by THURSDAY of the following week.

If you have any questions, comments or concerns, you can contact me on f2@olsj.org.uk and I will reply as soon as I can. For anything urgent, please email school@olsj.org.uk
