Year 1's Diwali afternoon

Year 1's Come and See lesson had a Diwali theme this afternoon which started with us learning about the Hindu religion and the story which lead to Diwali 'festival of light'.
Children used clay and accessories to make their own Diva lamp, created their own Rangoli pattern decorations and made a 'Happy Diwali' card for their loved ones,
Children were fully immersed in their activities this afternoon whilst listening to traditional Diwali music.
The classroom had lots of candles and lights to portray the lights used in the festival of light and children reflected on all things good in the world.
A special thank you to Mr and Mrs Whitmore who supplied us with lots of craft materials that used in this lesson.
